What is this for?
Any time the question is “what standard sizes land between these two limits”: picking stock, choosing a spacer, listing the fractions inside a tolerance band. Give the limits, get every qualifying mark.
Which fractions are considered?
Every mark of the denominators in the selected preset, deduplicated after reduction — 8/16 and 16/32 appear once, as 1/2. The list is complete for that set: if a fraction is missing, it is not in the window.
Can the limits be metric?
Yes, and they can even mix: 12 mm to 1/2 in works. Everything is converted exactly at 25.4 mm per inch before the search.
Where this comes from. Exact rational arithmetic on the values shown — fractions are pairs of integers until display, and inch–metric conversion uses 25.4 mm to the inch, exact by definition since 1959. See the full methodology.
