Common questions

How do I turn a fraction into a percentage?
Divide the numerator by the denominator, then multiply by 100. For 3/8: 3 ÷ 8 = 0.375, and 0.375 × 100 = 37.5%.
What is 1/3 as a percentage?
1/3 is 33.33% rounded. Exactly, it is 33.(3)% — the 3 repeats forever, and any finite number of 3s is an approximation.
Can a fraction be more than 100%?
Yes. Any fraction greater than 1 is more than 100%: 7/4 is 175%. Percent is just the same number read in hundredths.
